If you think Pauline Hanson’s unrepentant racially-fuelled dog-whistling and attention-grabbing bigoted stunts as an elected Australian senator are just laughable, innocuous distractions, have we got some (highly troubling) news for you.

Less than two months after Hanson’s bewildering motion in the Senate to acknowledge that “it’s okay to be white” was marginally defeated, at least two politicians have been targeted with the white supremacist aligned phrase, in the form of a postering campaign on and around their electorate offices.

Greens senator Sarah Hanson-Young tweeted the below image taken outside her office earlier today, saying “Pro-nazi slogans like this are not welcome in Adelaide. Go back to the rock you crawled out from and stay there.”

It was then reported by WA Today that Member for the northern Perth electorate of Cowan, Anne Aly, awoke this morning to find her office front covered in what appears to be the exact same poster style.

Dr Aly, who migrated to Australia from Egypt at age two and was the first woman of Muslim faith to be elected to parliament, is holding back zero punches and draws a direct line between Pauline Hanson’s stunts and this type of racist vandalism:

“‘It’s OK to be white’ aren’t just five words that are arbitrarily thrown together and have some kind of expressive meaning about racism. It is actually a loaded slogan with a long history within the white supremacist movement.”

“And when we have our leaders in Parliament using white supremacist and neo-Nazi slogans, and when you have the Liberals and the Nationals following One Nation and voting for it, this kind of stuff happens.”

Sarah Hanson-Young also points the finger squarely at Hanson for re-invigorating the dormant racism in this country, telling Junkee: “Pauline Hanson’s cheer squad spreading this white supremacist slogan in Adelaide is a direct attack on our welcoming, multicultural community. I have referred this vile racism to the police.

“Sadly, Pauline Hanson and One Nation have given licence to spread this hate. The person who put these signs up should be ashamed of themselves.”

Look, you’re no doubt a sane, regular person who knows without reminder it’s ok to be white and that people who otherwise have more than enough bullshit to deal with in the raging binfire that is modern existence so if you see one of these heinous posters, you know what to do.
