Last month, critically-acclaimed comedian and your IRL Patronus Amy Schumer dropped the exciting news she’d soon be making it out to Australia. On a promo tour for her soon-to-be-released Judd Apatow flick Trainwreck, Schumer would be wandering around Sydney and Melbourne with co-star Bill Hader breathing the same air as you. By the law of averages, you’d no doubt soon be sitting in the same bar together, abscond to the nearest karaoke joint, and become life-long best friends.

Now, in case that doesn’t work out for some inexplicable reason, there’s actually a foolproof way to make sure you see her. It’s just been announced she’s doing a one-off, exclusive Australian show in Melbourne next week. Sorry Sydney. Book your flights. This is a one-night only gig at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on Wednesday, July 22.

Details of the show itself are pretty thin, but fans who only know Schumer from her viral clips on Inside Amy Schumer should probably expect something slightly different. Schumer’s last full stand-up show Mostly Sex Stuff aired as Comedy Central’s highest-rating special in 2012, but jokes she told about race have recently come under criticism when compared to her much-celebrated sketch work.

Whether you agree with that criticism or not, it’s clear she’s always stayed true to her now-distinctive Schumer style. Here’s a clip from that same show where she talks about porn stars obsessively coming on people’s faces:

And here’s a more recent-set where her first joke was a jab at Bill Cosby:

Tickets go on sale TOMORROW MORNING AT 10am via The Arts Centre. At $99 they’re pretty damn steep but hey, who needs rent money anyway.
